Satyam – Sivam – Sundaram

An ode to our Gurus

Sridevi Nrithyalaya’s dance festival titled Satyam – Sivam – Sundaram was started with the aim of paying obeisance to our great Gurus of dance, Satyam (Late Dr.Vempati Chinna Satyam – Kuchipudi), Sundaram (Late Railway Sundaram – Bharathanatyam in Melattur style) and the Supreme, Siva – the Lord of Dance.

The foremost goal of this festival is to provide a free platform to Classical dance artistes from all over India. This annual festival was started in the year 2010 as a three day festival, in which our staff Smt. Shobha Korambil presented a Kuchipudi solo performance and students of Sridevi Nrithyalaya performed Bharathanatyam. Seeing the overwhelming response that the festival had, artistes of various dance styles from different regions were invited

to perform the next year in this grand and crowd-attracting dance festival at the

Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore. A wide range of our classical dances viz.

solo, duet and group presentations are presented to the audience every year in the end of January for 5 days. The festival has been graced by performances of senior performers and stalwarts like Ms. Leela Samson, Smt. Rhadha Ramnathan, Sri Kishore Mosalikanti and many young accomplished dancers from all over India. Basic necessities such as stage, lights, mikes ets are provided by our Nrithyalaya, free of cost and artistes who perform in the festival are chosen by an expert panel.
